Until a few years ago, experts only believed that the role of Rostam Shiraz was the tomb of the great Achaemenid kings; But aerial imaging technology helped us to understand the historical background and importance of this collection during the Sassanid era.
With the help of aerial images, it was found that towers and fortifications can be seen in this complex that belong to the Sassanid era. According to these images, there were 7 towers in the southern part and 4 towers in the eastern and western part of the mountain. So this shows that a castle was built at that time. The exact date of construction of this castle is not known; But many attribute it to the reign of Ardashir and Shapur Sassanid. Until the Sassanid era, this collection was very prosperous and after that it became abandoned.
